Italian version

I am not a music fan, normally I listen randomly to what the radio offers me. Since my dad died in January 2024, every morning I listen to Cat Stevens’ “Father and son,” then I rely on the random algorithm of choosing the next songs, which fits well with my musical “ignorance.” Thus I was fortunate enough to come across two songs that struck me with the depth of their meaning, so much so that I decided to share my reflections.

In February I published the article dedicated to The song “Il mondo si divide” by Brunori Sas This article is instead dedicated to “””Credo in meesteso” (I believe in me extended) by Gio Evan. It is a pleasant song with a catchy melody and lyrics full of puns, starting with the title.
In Italian “I believe in me extended” (credo in me esteso) is phonetically similar to “I believe in myself” (credo in me stesso), and simultaneously expresses a concept brilliantly summarized in the refrain:

Love, you must believe in you extended
You can’t think you are not also a tree
Love, you must believe in you extended
You can’t think you are not also a date
Love, you must believe in you extended
You can’t think you are not also me

This pleasant and seemingly light-hearted song thus gives us an opportunity to reflect on a mindset geared toward considering ourselves as one entity not only with other human beings, but also with other living beings. This is a message that is the basis of many religions and philosophies; in my personal interpretation it coincides with “Love your neighbor as yourself” of the Catholics, “None of you will be a true believer until he wants for his brother what he wants for himself” of Islam, and the sacredness of the life of every living being as an expression of the mystical law of Buddhism.

I then searched the web for information about Gio Evan, intrigued by an artist who has ingeniously combined spiritual depth, musical wisdom and mastery in the use of words. I read on his personal website that he is a multifaceted artist and acts as a songwriter, writer, humorist, performer, even a street artist. I was pleased to read that every year he organizes “Evanland,” the international festival of the inner world. On the page dedicated to the event, it reads: Two days of meetings, workshops, practices, talks, performances, readings and games to stimulate and elevate our evolutionary experience.

I thus discovered with wonder that the purpose of Evanland is precisely the same as my own site, namely to offer reflections and insights for personal growth aimed at creating a peaceful and harmonious humanity.
And finally, a heartfelt thanks to the random song selection algorithm 🙂
